Hey there! It’s me, Cody Hays (he/him/his) with Marketing Mission. In my past seven years as a nonprofit marketing strategist, I've worked with 30+ nonprofits to maximize their marketing and reclaim their team's time.

Just like you, I used to work long hours, and I'm talking loooong hours—dedicating 10, 12, even 16 hour days because I thought I was "paying my dues" in the nonprofit space.

So what happened? No surprise here - I burnt out.

I remember being in person at our largest event of the season — over 4,000 students attending a leadership conference. On top of designing the event theme, decorating the conference hall (which looked like an empty Costco by the way), marketing the entire event, I was there on the day of capturing footage for NEXT year's campaign.

I had so much swimming around in my head and felt so much pressure to "get it right" that you know what happened? I had a panic attack in a room with 20 of my coworkers and 4,000 high school students. Not necessarily the most uplifting moment of my life....

But I did learn two lessons:
  • Work shouldn't overtake our life.
  • Marketing shouldn't be overwhelming for change-making nonprofits.
I flew home from our event and on the plane ride back and spent the next few years on a personal mission to never let myself get to that feeling of overwhelm again. Not just for myself, but for as many of my nonprofit friends as possible.

The truth is, marketing CAN BE complicated, but it doesn't have to be. The framework I walk my clients through is a culmination of the best of all of my work - I've spent 7 years and over $50,000 on a masters degree in mass communication, coaching, training, and other resources to create our process.

The History Behind marketing mission

Marketing Mission serves clients nationwide from our home base in Phoenix, Arizona.

Since 2020, we've given over 50+ nonprofit executive directors, development directors, and communication strategists the clear action plan and coaching/consulting they need to maximize their marketing and reclaim their time.

Founder Cody Hays started marketing mission after a career in social media for multi-million dollar nonprofits across the country. Hays holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication and Digital Strategy from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University.
